MCA Day ’17 – Celebrating Beastie Boy Adam “MCA” Yauch

On August 5th, 2017, Brooklyn and the world will come together once again for to celebrate the life, music, and legacy of Beastie Boy Adam “MCA” Yauch. Held at Littlefield Art and Performance Space in Brooklyn, NYC for the GRAND FINALE EVENT on Yauch’s birthday.

Over the past 5 years, MCA Day has attracted thousands of fans, friends, musicians, and artists of “all lifestyles, sizes, shapes, and forms” from around the world.  The event has been attended and blessed by legends such as Mix Master Mike, Cey Adams, DJ Hurricane, Chuck D, Rakim, Doug E Fresh, Tom Morello, Billions McMillions, House of Pain’s Danny Boy O’Connor, and garnered well deserved national attention from Rolling Stone, Huffington Post, The Boston Globe, and SpinDarryl “DMC” McDaniels & Santigold have rocked our stage with live performances, and the Keep It On and On art show features a fan-fueled art gallery and work by iconic photographers Glen E. Friedman and Sunny Bak.

THIS AUGUST 5, 2017 EVENT AT THE NEW LITTLEFIELD SPACE WILL BE THE FIFTH AND FINAL, CLOSING OUT A HALF DECADE OF GIVING THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT, GUARANTEED, EVERY TIME.

Five years ago, the world lost musician, activist, philanthropist, filmmaker, and legendary Beastie Boy Adam Yauch after an extended battle with cancer. His untimely passing affected a massive legion of mourning fans dedicated to his music as well as his message. Today, Yauch’s adept artistry, cultural influence, and selfless humanitarian efforts continues to be celebrated through the annual MCA Day event. There’s no question that Yauch would have been at the forefront speaking about the mounting tensions and issues that riddle our news feeds everyday.  We could use your help in celebrating his life and spreading his message this year. MCA Day is always free to attend, and built from donated time and talents by fans and friends of YAUCH.

MCA Day’s modest beginnings at a park with a boombox has now evolved into this year’s successfully crowd-funded incarnation, which promises to deliver the most surprises yet. Expect a mash-up of performances and guest speakers, a fan and superstar-fueled art gallery, and the return of breakdancing monks. Make some noise if you’re with me!
