Preview Josh Banton – Temperature #RawrrzonePicks

It’s been quite a summer for one of our winners of the 2024 Road to the Giveback. We haven’t seen much of him since he was on Monday Night Rawrr back at our first studio. He cohosted a few episodes of Welcome to the Rawrrzone, but the multi-talented singer had slipped under our radar for the last few years. In 2024, he announced that not only would he be ghostwriting and helping independent artists, but he also decided to grace the stage again with new material, marking the beginning of a new chapter for this rising young artist.

“Temperature,” the debut single from the Brownsville native, is a declaration of the heat Banton will bring this summer. Kicking off his run with his love of dancehall, the young artist had us dancing in our seats during his Road to the Giveback performance. On the first listen, the melody takes us back to the late ’90s and early ’00s, reminiscent of Tanto Metro and Devante when parties blasted “Everyone Falls In Love Sometimes.” As for his sound, we hear a mature version of his former counterpart Lex Banton, infused with his real-life persona Joshua, the music lover who understands the game and what a hit song sounds like. His voice flows smoothly with the beat, and you don’t hear the pressure in his voice like in songs such as “Legendary” and his past collective group music.

We see this young talent going places this summer, and 2024 is shaping up to be his year.

Temperature is set to drop August 2nd

Rawrrzone Picks – Saay Park Cool

For the first time in over a year, we have a new single from the Bronx’s own Saay Park. For those who may not know, Saay Park was one of our inaugural guests on “Welcome to the Rawrrzone” seven years ago. Since his appearance, he has continued to mesmerize his audience with his diverse sounds and larger-than-life performances, featuring notable artists such as ARP Musiq, Kony Brooks, and more.

His long-awaited single, “Cool,” takes us back to the essence of R&B, channeling the emotions of a broken love and the longing for someone who does not want you. Everyone has that one person it didn’t work out with, and we hope to stay friends and “cool” with them. The production behind the song truly brings the entire piece together, as the beat complements Saay’s mellow harmonies, taking you through the love-struck single.

Following their electrifying performance at the Signature Series Funhouse concert curated by Battlebear, the Dowe Twins are on the road to superstardom. While most 15-year-olds are focused on school and have little understanding of the world, these exceptional siblings have become the first-ever brother/sister rap collaboration. Bringing a unique twist to the Hip-Hop scene, the twins are making waves.

Emerging from the challenges of the pandemic, the Dowe Twins are taking a stand for what is right. Their debut single, “Gonna Love Us,” boldly addresses gun violence and advocates for safer parks and areas for children. In the wake of Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary, Hip Hop Blvd recognized the twins as the future of the genre, praising their authenticity and ambition to set new standards.

Beyond their impact on the Hip-Hop industry, the Dowe Twins are also pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams with a Cuban link jewelry collection. At such a young age, they are truly embodying the spirit of innovation and excellence.

Their latest single Dance Dance Dance goes a different direction from their debut EP Perfectly Imperfect. While the EP brings the essence of both RNB and Hip Hop into a neat 5 song project Dance Dance Dance takes us to the present of Hip Hop in drill. The track show the versatility in their cadence and their presence. Even we were turnt up in the Rawrrzone listening to them.

Rawrrzone Picks – FaxoHxzrd – Faded

It’s amazing to see how much progress has been made, not only in the world of music but also in terms of tolerance and acceptance of different genres worldwide. Reflecting on their childhood, many can relate to not being allowed to listen to certain types of music, let alone pursue a career in it.

Growing up in a Greek household, there were limitations, and pursuing a career in music seemed like a distant dream. In many families, the expectation was to follow a more conventional path, such as becoming a teacher or a doctor. Back then, familial support for artistic endeavors was rare. However, as we step into 2024, things have significantly changed.

Parents are now not only supportive but encouraging of their children pursuing their creative dreams. There’s a newfound appreciation for the creative arts, and families play a crucial role in nurturing and supporting their children’s aspirations. This shift marks a significant change in societal attitudes towards creativity and the arts.

The 12-track project, heavily influenced by New York drill with elements from the Vermont music scene, offers a smooth listening experience. The album not only showcases Faxohzrd’s confidence but also his passion for music.

<center> <iframe style=”border-radius:12px” src=”https://open.spotify.com/embed/album/6ZXkeF6AaiI0Z3YJS0cWhA?utm_source=generator” width=”100%” height=”352″ frameBorder=”0″ allowfullscreen=”” allow=”autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture” loading=”lazy”></iframe></center>

As someone once told us, there’s a difference between artists who create to connect with their audience and those who create solely for profit. Faxohzrd aims to move his crowd and make them experience his music fully.

For example, in “Kobe Bryant,” he displays his pen game and wordplay, cleverly referencing the late Kobe Bryant’s jersey number, 24. Faxohzrd takes his shot and never misses.

“Lobotomy” is a straight pen track where he exhibits some of his best bars, blending boom-bap and drill beats, giving off takeover vibes as he talks about eliminating his competition as if performing a lobotomy.

“On Me” is a track dedicated to the ladies.Faxohzrd acknowledges the women in his life, recognizing how they have always supported him and declaring his affection for his dream woman. The song gave me a taste of Mac Miller while listening to it.

Although these were our favorites from the project, without giving too much away, you need to check out the entire project for yourself.

KNoWTe – When Life Hits You Preview

Jersey City, NJ Based alternative Hip-Hop artist is at it again. With that we are on the road to the release of his latest single When Life Hits You . Shoutout to MLM Entertainment for allowing us to hear the single before it drops. This release is very important to the artist known as KNoWTe; according to his Instagram the release of the single means a lot to him. He had a year of reflection and self improvement the single When Life Hits You is a testament of that reflection.

Coming off the adrenaline from the release of his most successful rock inspired single Unchecked, The alternative hip hop artist writes on his Instagram to his fans that he is determined to come out of it that he will fight with everything he got till the end.

Lets start with the cover art, KNoWTe gives us a very anime / Mortal Kombat fatality vibe, with the skull getting punched out of his skin. Giving us a view of what we have to expect from the song, It also is the perfect representation of the title because there is no greater pain than when life hits you unexpectedly. The start of the track has someone narrating in a computerized way.

What should you expect from listening to this song? Expect being able to master being a lyricist while bringing elements of horrorcore and other alternative genres. You visualize running away from life’s problems trying to find a solution when you feel like there is no hope left and you need to overcome all the obstacles. The song symbolizes a new beginning for KNoWTe.

Rawrrzone Picks – Flex Winter – If You Wanna Flex

MLM management is at it again. The newest signee of the label Flex Winter released his first project since 2020. The Tampa native gave us a new project showing how he can master commercial sounds. In 2020, he showed us his lyrical side when putting Zoned out with fellow label mate Migs718. Flex shows us in his latest project that he can dominate any musical genre. While not falling into the boom-bap traditional hip-hop lane, he knows how to hold his own in a crowd full of people. What is most interesting not only about the artist but also about this project is he can keep the essence of hip hop in the project through his double time flow and witty bars but also his storytelling lyricism.

Ballin – The track featuring Wop Heffner caught our attention just off the beat alone. The flutes in the instrumental reminded me of a mix of the music from the Zelda video games with a modern Hip-Hop twist. I wanted to look more into the production process to pinpoint where we heard the sample from.
I’m him – Flex goes in on this track, it’s a bird, it’s a plane, no, it’s Flex Winter he shows the world how dominant he is and how he will never stand down from a challenge.
Jumpin’: Jumpin’ has to be the most lyrical song on the entire project. Flex calls everyone to action to fuck with the real one. That many are imitations that he and his crew will have everyone jumping and that he demands his respect.
The cover art giving us retro vibes when breaking down the project. Remember when we used to take photos with a disposable camera, and it gave us the old-school feel of an image? That is the same feeling Flex gives us in the cover art. As a photographer, it gives us multiple meanings of what the cover art can mean. It shows us, though, for the most part, how much he represents his hometown of Tampa, Florida.
We at Rawrrzone were enjoying the vibes the project brought; the only downside of it was because of the length of time (15 mins), we wanted to hear more from the 7-track project. But we are also happy he does have more work we can listen to to make up for that. Despite its length, Flex came in, conquered the masses, and showed who was at the top of the Florida music scene. His features gave us different elements of surprise in each track.
There is so much potential in the 25-year-old from Tampa, Florida. We can’t wait to see what time unfolds for him.

Ty ThaGod Preaches in latest single Here We Go Again

Since our last encounter with Ty ThaGod we see he has progressed as a lyricist and artist. His tone has gotten more mature and he looks to continuously prove that he will be the superior and come on top of his competition. Detailed in the song itself he looks to have people hear his voice and know his name, breakdown all doors and barriers in today’s industry and make opportunities for people to eat. He points out the many inconsistencies in today’s marketing and promotion and how the independent becomes poorer and poorer due to their misguided thoughts over how things in the industry should be as opposed to how the game is played. Ty did what he came to do painting a story for his audience to picture through his words.

LNK Radio on one of their first playlists with his single Rotation. The East Coast Native gave us West Coast Vibes through his lyrics and brought us back to the early 00’s with the beats. In 2023 he keeps going in latest single Here We Go Again.
With over 100,000 streams and hitting #24 on the urban charts we look forward to see what he is going to do next.

Inside Saturn’s Portal with Ronin

The exhilarating group known as Ronin is looking to bring the heat this fall season. Following the success of their self titled album Ronin which hit #23 on the Billboard with the success of their single Temptress. Ronin is looking to continue the success with the release of Saturn’s Portal .

Saturn’s Portal is a very interesting track bringing us back paying homage to the early 90’s rock bands. The song brings us back to the times of Black Sabbath and Metallica while adding their own twist to it. The instrumentals at the end was well placed giving a strong ending to the song, the song is clear in its meaning where you understand what the band is feeling and are at the moment. The vocals were reminiscent to one of James Hetfield and it continued to bring the essence of rock as we knew it. The drummer went off during the piece and it caught our attention.

Saturn’s portal is the lead single to Ronin’s next album Valak The Defiler . Make sure you pre order it off their website

Rawrrzone Preview – Cuban Dvenci The Return

2023 is the comeback year for Philadelphia’s own Cuban DVenci. After a long hiatus the MC is set to drop his latest project after 12 years entitled The Return on August 25th. The 7 track project includes the long awaited follow up to his latest single Real N****S Pt 2 coming back with his original traditional flow just in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop. The track leading the project had the most power in its cadence, his delivery was pristine and clean. The project will be distributed August. 25th under 6Belmont promotions.

What should we expect in The Return well, the depth of the storytelling is the jewel behind this project. In tracks such as Illegal Business Dvenci talks about running in the streets , how he ended up in certain compromising situations stating he sold his soul for the money and how he looks to make it right. The skits are the perfect transition between the tracks for Get up and Favorite Girl pt 2. While he did address the nitty gritty hip-hop he is known for he did talk to. the ladies in one of our favorite tracks, Favorite Girl Pt2.

The Return the title single from the project gives us major Wu-Tang / Method Man vibes. This song would definitely have you in your bag.
