Manu Crooks (@manuthecrook) – “Different League”

African-Australian hip-hop artist Manu Crooks debuts swaggering visual “Different League.” The music video is his first release of 2018.

Draped in a designer puffer jacket with trendy accessories to complete his look, Manu Crooks raps about his ongoing success and the women he’s met along the way in “Different League.” The heavy bass line and rhythmic keys creates an ominous feel for the viewer as he spits bold lyrics about lust, success, and unclear intentions. French directors Aden Gauthier and Berko & Titan’s color grading and keen editing sets the visual apart from other hip-hop videos.

The Sydney-based hip-hop artist is in a “different league” with his foreign flair and trap-tinged sound. Set in multiple locations in the outskirts of Paris, the video flows as seamlessly as Manu’s rhymes “Had me thinking she was mine. I was loving all the signs, she was loving all of mine.”

When asked about the music video the Parisien directors said, “Our goal as directors for this music video was to bring an overseas artist to the hidden parts of Paris, far from the Eiffel Tower, and in the heart of the suburban projects least visited; while paying close attention to retaining a clean aesthetic. This collaboration is an artistic project destined to break down borders.”

“Different League” flaunts Manu’s expensive taste. His eyes are covered by gold framed designer sunglasses reminiscent of Master P as he cruises through the streets with a beautiful lady. The subtle special effects enhances the visuals vibe and overall aesthetic.

Manu Crooks intends to improve his impact on the international hip-hop scene with the release of “Different League.” His previous content has major music publications like  i-D, The Fader, and Pigeons & Planes all raving about his potential as an artist.
