Following last month’s MTV Video Music Award’s performance of “Apple Juice” (recently praised by Howard Stern), a remixed release of “Body Count” featuring Kehlani and Normani, appearances at AFROPUNK and Made In America, two notable features on Eminem‘s newest album Kamikaze, a collaboration with Calvin Harris and Sam Smith on “Promises” and now topping over 230M streams worldwide, Jessie Reyez has announced that her second EP, Being Human in Public, is set to be released on October 19, 2018 via FMLY / ISLAND. Additionally, today she’s shared another new track, “F*** Being Friends“, to kick off the sale of her North American “Being Human on Tour” Fall dates. The 29 date trek will take her across North America starting October 11th in Edmonton, Alberta at The Starlite Room and will wrap with a hometown show at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall on December 3rd. Tickets are on sale now along with a limited number of VIP Experience packages available – check http://jessiereyez.com/ for more info.
In the past year alone, Reyez has continued to make a name for herself with hit singles, a support run on Halsey’s US tour, and performances at a plethora of music festivals. Reyez has not only continued to get recognized by both critics and peers alike but has remained to stand out amongst them. Having won Canada’s most prestigious Juno music award for 2018’s Breakthrough Artist and getting nominated for two 2018 MTV Video Music Awards including Push Artist of the Year and Video With A Message for her standout and empowering music video “Gatekeeper,” from 2017’s debut EP Kiddo. Jessie continues to push the envelope while building excitement for her forthcoming EP Being Human In Public, especially with the bold and forthright new track “F*** Being Friends”, which Reyez has been previewing on live dates.
Recently, the Toronto born singer and songwriter contributed two features on the surprise release Kamikaze from iconic hip-hop artist Eminem, and collaborated with Daniel Caesar (“Figures, A Reprise”), Calvin Harris and Sam Smith (“Promises”) and Calvin Harris (“Hard to Love”). Reyez and Harris also co-wrote Dua Lipa‘s summer hit “One Kiss“. Even though Reyez is associated with big names, she still pulls her own weight with popular hits charting as Spotify’s 67th most listened to artist. Earlier this month, Reyez surprised fans with her debut Spanish song “Sola,” proving she is a more versatile artist than what was already thought to believe. Reyez also released a solo track and accompanying music video for “Body Count,” a liberating anthem she wrote for all men and women to feel empowered by their sexuality and not ashamed by it. The track was followed by a remix with Kehlani and Normani that continued to push the message. Similar to her empowering mantras shown in “Gatekeeper,” Reyez is determined to stick to an ethos of exposing industry sexism and predatory behavior, receiving coverage from media including Noisey, Complex, Pigeons & Planes, SPIN, Jezebel, Billboard, MTV, BET, Rolling Stone, W, HITS, Interview and more.
With music festivals lined up and over 230 million audio streams worldwide for her own music, Jessie Reyez is poised to become a household name as she continues to break bread within the music industry, one empowering message at a time. Stay tuned for more news to follow and catch Jessie Reyez live as she makes her way across North America.
