Monsters On The Horizon (@mnstrsonthehrzn) – “Mr. Scary”

Brooklyn based trap/rock/rap band Monsters On The Horizon just dropped their new video for their latest single “Mr. Scary”. The video premiered exclusively via Underground Hip Hop Blog, who called the visual “transcending.”

“Mr. Scary” is a succession of shots of the band performing (sporting their signature masks), cut with pixelated static and glitches- giving it a somewhat dystopian feel. As the video goes on, the glitches become more and more apparent until the signal is lost. The video features members of the band’s creative collective: elevensixtysix. “Mr. Scary” was shot and edited by Monsters On The Horizon’s in-house videographer, @theofficialmicdee.

“Mr. Scary” is a social commentary about resisting the temptation to become complacent in a corrupted system.  From the album art to the instrumentation and groove, none of “Mr. Scary” resides within the norm of traditional rock, hip-hop, punk or trap. Rather, Monsters On The Horizon have created something entirely different.  A track that is, in fact scary, but moves the listener with its slapping trap bass and electro-synth soundscape. Previous EPs by Monsters On The Horizon including, “Howl” & “M.O.T.H.R.A.” vol I & vol II are available on all Digital + Streaming Platforms: iTunes, Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music.

Keep an eye out for the next live shows featuring Monsters On The Horizon. Catch them on a mini-tour during the Salem Horror Movie Festival October 10th – the 14th in Salem, Massachusetts.  Make sure you bring a mask.
