Minneapolis born singer/songwriter/producer Kyle Skye is limitless in his ability to dance between the parallels of Hip Hop and R&B.
Growing up in North Minneapolis during the 90s, Kyle Skye learned there was more to life than “Murderapolis” had to offer. Kyle Skye grew up in a musical family, but his experiences with loved ones were short lived. With the sudden passing of his father’s mother, brother, and sister, Kyle Skye promised to never take life for granted. This was the flame that ignited him to begin a life of risk and artistic endeavor.
While most youth his age played outdoors, Kyle Skye could be found tirelessly creating in his basement. Inspired by artists that transcended boundaries like Pharrell, Kanye West, and Prince; Kyle Skye grew ambitions to inspire others in similar fashion.
After a successful career of Collegiate Football playing for his hometown Minnesota Gophers, Kyle Skye began his journey within the music industry establishing Bay Laurel (an independent label) in 2013 with mentor Winifred “Hawk” Hawkins.
Kyle Skye’s drive and raw artistry caught the attention of Dorian Washington (Manager to Grammy winning singer-songwriter Static Major). With the newly attained knowledge from Washington, Kyle Skye would begin to release singles, music videos, and perform w/ Waka Flaka Flame and Ty Dolla Sign.
This success was halted by a near death experience that left Kyle Skye in a coma for several days. He awoke again with the confirmed belief – life could be taken in a moment, inspiring the creation of his first full project, MINT.
MINT blends the sentiments of sultry R&B + Hip Hop over ambient synths, hard-hitting beats, and funky bass lines.
MINT releases to all digital stores and streaming platforms Friday, September 28th.
