Portland-raised / Oakland-based producer and rapper TOPE makes his grand return with a huge first single of 2018 entitled “FAITHFUL” featuring Rap Legends Blu and Abstract Rude. Produced by TOPE himself “FAITHFUL” is a soulful and gospel-inspired banger that finds all three MCs giving their own spin to the definition of the word. “FAITHFUL” marks the second collaboration for TOPE with Abstract Rude and Blu respectively. 2011 found TOPE’s debut group Living Proof going “Full Speed” and in 2014 Blu and TOPE collaborated on the now classic “Let It Go.” Forming a relationship through collaboration and touring, Abstract Rude was the second artist to ever bring TOPE on tour way back in 2012 and just this past year TOPE briefly joined Blu and Exile on their Below The Heavens Anniversary shows in Eugene and Portland, Oregon.
“The funny thing is I had this beat and chorus done for maybe 6 months before I sent it to Blu,” TOPE explained about his latest release. “I was really just asking Blu if he liked the idea and he sent a full verse back in about 45 minutes! Once I heard that, I knew I had to get Ab Rude on it as well. Same thing, Ab hit me back the next day with a fire verse and no hesitation.”
Premiered by 2DOPEBOYZ, “Faithful” is TOPE’s first official release since his EP SOME THINGS GOTTA CHANGE and first self-produced song since having his entire music library being stolen in San Francisco. Marking the first of many releases this summer, be on the lookout for the return of TOPE.
