Boston rapper Token is obviously unafraid to tackle critical issues within his own generation as he releases his recent video for “One Like Equals.” Directed by Ben Proulx and Token, he tapped into his own experiences with his peers, using the harsh realities of social media as it affects a generation of young women lacking self-esteem, addicted to “likes” and fame. “One Like Equals” is the second installment to a video trilogy. Token previously released “Code Red” (click here), which received over 1.4M views on YouTube after a month.
“I’ve seen so many girls that I grew up with turn to social media for acceptance and attention. It’s like, when you have insecurity problems or something traumatic happens in life, these “likes” on social media turn into an emotional crutch; the more you get, the more loved you think you are.”
