FREEWIFI partners with Mass Appeal to premiere their music video “Salsa,” a celebratory tribute to Spanish music and culture. Directed by Brix Works, the artistic filtered clip features J. Plaza, Tha Rift and Daddy Dinero joined by Xanarchy member $teven Cannon cleverly using salsa and other Spanish words as metaphors for all things dope. “Salsa” is now available on Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes other digital service providers.
The song’s theme was inspired by the track. “Angelo Bombay, who produced ‘Ego’ for us, sent the beat over. As soon as the beat dropped, we thought…Aye! This sounds like some salsa shit, lol,” the group tells Mass Appeal. “J. Plaza jumped in and freestyled that catchy ass hook, so we tapped into our Spanish selves and the rest was history.”
The group asked Xanarchy member $teven Cannon to guest on the song. “We first met $teven Cannon and Lil Xan in Los Angeles while we were in the studio with DJ FU working on a song called ‘Ghost’ and a few others,” they explain. “Then, $teven came out to Minnesota to rock an after-party with us after we performed at Soundset 2017. That’s bro, we had a good time at Soundset…We all were just coolin’ on stage, sippin’ on Henny, watching Travis Scott perform. A couple weeks later we sent $teven ‘Salsa’ and he sent his verse right back. He killed it!”
FREEWIFI anticipates releasing their Rostrum Records debut album next year. “Every song that we created is dope and people are gonna love it. Well, some people will hate it too but that happens with everything you do in life,” the group says. “Our sound is unique because some concepts we come up with individually but mostly we’re in the studio together. We just vibe and run off of each other’s ideas. You never know what to expect from FREEWIFI.”
The “Salsa” audio premiered on Pigeons & Planes in September. The Minneapolis trio has also released the raw, hard hitting single “Ego” followed by the invincible, head nodding “Ghost.”
