(Review) The Rockin 45’s – Don’t Look At Me

the rockin 45s

With the statement “Those three words you said were meaningless, so don’t you wait for my reply”, The Rockin 45’s set the tone immediately in their not-so-in-love song “Don’t Look At Me”. The mellow rock song reflects on a relationship at its end, with its lyrics expressing a “walk away and don’t look back” attitude. It speaks on disaffection and dissatisfaction in a relationship gone bad. It leaves one question in my mind, is it love lost or love that was never there?

The Rockin 45’s vocalistMike Scarione makes it clear, if “you’re looking for love” don’t look at him. He pulls no punches letting it be known he is not the right one for the wrong woman. It’s the ultimate goodbye anthem. You can almost see the cameras panning back as the two former “lovers” walk away from each other in two different directions, one into the sunset, and one into twilight. The song kicks in with an awesome guitar riff from Matt Nappo at about the two minute mark that sums up all the emotions of the track in one brief moment. That moment alone makes you want to hit the rewind button just to vibe in its ambience one more time.

Together, Mike Scarione, Matt Nappo, Drummer Mike Barone and Bassist Bill Capozzi make up the 4 in The Rockin 45’s. With a unique approach, bold lyrics and a sound reminiscent of Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith and Zac Brown Band, The 45’s have been making a name for themselves around Long Island for years and with original songs like “Don’t Look At Me” they are certain to be around for many more to come.
